MISSIONS

LOCAL – NATIONAL – GLOBAL

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15

We love supporting the global church as they go out and make disciples. Explore some of the missions organizations the Bethlehem community feels called to serve:

On the third Saturday of every month, adults and youth put on their jeans and work boots to transform someone's home in our local community.

Their mission: Transforming lives by repairing homes for low-income families and sharing the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Their heart: See the inhabitants of homes in Chester County rise above their level of poverty and experience a rich measure of hope, joy and dignity through being cared for and knowing that their circumstances matter to their community and to God.

Changing the world...one life at a time.

Every summer, a group from Bethlehem and our community travel to Kenya to spread God's word, provide clean water by distributing Uzima filters, and invest in education for Kenya's youth. While the trip will always include filter distribution, other projects depend on the current needs of people and the skills and abilities of the volunteers. In recent years, we have provided optometry services, helped with the construction and painting of buildings, and distributed food, clothing, books, and toys.

After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said “Go and do likewise.” That is the mission of Samaritan's Purse—to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.

Bethlehem participates in two aspects of Samaritan's Purse each year: U.S. Disaster Relief and Operation Christmas Child (OCC).

OCC in particular brings a new level of meaning to the lyric: Oh what fun! Youth and adults alike come together each Christmas season to pack shoeboxes full of personal hygiene items and toys for boys and girls of different ages. These gifts are shipped across the globe to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world.

The sewing ministry at Bethlehem began in 2015 after one of our members felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to begin making hooded bath towels for a local women's organization in Chester County.

Their outreached quickly morphed into an international assignment. The women involved in this ministry make t-shirt dresses and eyeglass cases that are shipped to Kenya.

Sew with us - dress and eyeglass case kits are available - all you need is access to a sewing machine!
